Satellite TV -- Getting the Best Signal

Satellite TV is a technological wonder that allows millions of customers to enjoy the best in television viewing. A far cry from cable, this type of television uses satellites in space to receive and broadcast TV signals. These satellites are positioned approximately 22,000 miles from Earth. Once the satellite gets the signal, it is received by the satellite dishes of customers and translated by their receivers. With satellite television, you can get hundreds of channels -- some of which you can't get on cable. Of course, you'll also be able to get universal favorites like HBO and ESPN as well.

If you have satellite TV or are planning to get it, you might be concerned about getting the best signal. A bad signal can negatively affect the quality of your picture and sound. The majority of satellite viewers get their service from either DirecTV or Dish Network. These two providers serve millions of satisfied customers. Signal trouble is rarely a problem, because these will send a professional to install, setup, troubleshoot and test your satellite dish and receiver. The best part is that the equipment and installation is usually free of charge when you sign up for satellite TV service.

Some people choose to install their own satellite TV system. If you're brave enough to attempt this potentially difficult process, make sure you know what you're doing. You should have some detailed instructions for installation that came along with your dish. One of the first things you'll need to do is position your dish properly using precise coordinates. The right coordinates will have a lot to do with the quality of your satellite signal. To obtain your coordinates, hook up your satellite receiver to your television. Then, access your on-screen menu. There will be a section where you can obtain the proper coordinates for your dish.

If you experience problems installing your satellite dish or getting a good signal, you can always call a professional to come help you. There should also be a customer service number included with your satellite dish equipment that you can call for help. All the time and effort involved in installing a satellite TV system is definitely worth it, as you'll soon discover. You'll get to enjoy the best television has to offer like never before!
